How do I wear them?

  • The soft fabric side faces up towards your body. There are snaps on the wings that wrap around your underwear and snap in place. Reusable pads are available in different levels of absorbency. They can be used regardless of flow; however, lighter flows are easier to manage.
  • They may take some getting used to before you find the frequency that works for you. Don't just give up after the first try.
  • For your first 2 to 3 cycles, your wear, store, wash and dry routine will take a little getting used to. Figure out what method works best for you.
  • You must create a change schedule that is unique to your cycle. Until then, it is recommended that you change at least every 4-6 hours or like for a disposable pad.

How do you use reusables?

Wash your new cloth pads before first use.

  • The first step is to secure the pad to the seat of the underwear and fasten the snaps around it, like the wings on a disposable pad.

  • While wearing, be prepared to change the pad when they start to feel full or wet against the skin.
  • Some top fabrics, like Bamboo velour and Minky, are designed to make you feel dry and comfortable.
  • Depending on how heavy / light your cycle is, you may need to change your pad
    between 1 - 5 times per day.

Alternating between reusable and some disposable pads or changing reusable pads more frequently is an option for those with heavy flows.

At first thought, washing reusable pads may seem daunting, but it is fairly simple. After use, rinse in cold water to prevent stains until the water runs clear. After that, toss them in with your usual laundry.

How do you wash reusable pads?

  • Step #1; What are Wet bags?

Used pads can be stored in a wet bag when on the go or while waiting for an appropriate wash time. Wet bags are waterproof so they are washable and safe to carry around in your bag/purse without fear of leaks.

  • Step #2: Rinse / Soak

After use, it is very important to rinse pads in cold water, this prevents stains from setting in. Hold the pad under cold water and squeeze, do this until the water runs clear.

If pads have been worn and stored previously, soak them in a pool of cold water for 1 hr +. This will reactivate the molecules and make it easier to wash out the stains.

  • Step #3: Remove stains

Rub a stain stick over the area for stubborn stains and gently scrub. Apply more stain remover as needed. Natural stain removers and sunlight are good options for reusable pads.

  • Step #4: Wash & Dry

After the initial cold rinse or soak, you can let the pad dry, then add it to the rest of your laundry. Pads can be placed in a washer along with delicates, but be careful not to leave them in the dryer or they will shrink. It is recommended that you hang the pads to dry, especially in sunlight, if possible. Pads will only take a few hours to dry. Ensure they are fully dry before wearing or storing.
